Welcoming Colton Underwood as WhiteFlag’s Chief Community Officer

WhiteFlag Team

WhiteFlag is thrilled to announce an exciting new addition to our team: Colton Underwood has joined us as our Chief Community Officer! Colton, widely known for his roles on ABC’s "The Bachelor" and Netflix’s "Coming Out Colton," brings with him a unique blend of experience as a former NFL player and a passionate mental health advocate.

In his new role, Colton will be instrumental in advancing WhiteFlag’s mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health and make support accessible to everyone. Here’s a glimpse of what this means for our community and how Colton’s journey aligns with our mission.

A Personal Connection to Mental Health

Colton’s mental health journey has been an open and honest one, sharing his experiences through various platforms. In his own words:

“As someone who had to lean on their peers through my mental health journey, I know the importance of having peer support. Doing it anonymously is something that I wish I had earlier in my life. To be working with a company like WhiteFlag and to be joining the team is so exciting and a true honor.”

Colton's candid discussions about his mental health struggles have inspired many, and he continues to receive messages from those who found solace and strength in his story. He recognizes the power of community and the impact of sharing personal experiences.

Bridging Communities and Raising Awareness

As Chief Community Officer, Colton will serve as the public face of WhiteFlag, representing us at events, conferences, and through media appearances. With over 2 million followers across social media, he is poised to extend our reach and amplify our message.

“My goal is to bridge our communities, raise awareness about the WhiteFlag App, and encourage people to seek peer-to-peer support,” says Colton.

He emphasizes that everyone, from those dealing with LGBTQIA+ issues to depression, parenting challenges, or PTSD, can benefit from peer support. WhiteFlag offers a safe space for users to connect and support each other through their mental health journeys.

Breaking the Stigma

Colton’s advocacy for mental health and his dedication to removing the stigma associated with it is a driving force behind his new role. He believes that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness:

“The strongest people are the ones who are able to ask for help. WhiteFlag makes that first step so much easier. Being able to create a profile and ask for help anonymously and for free is the easiest first step anybody could take.”

A Growing Community

WhiteFlag’s mission is more critical than ever, especially in light of the loneliness epidemic declared by the U.S. Surgeon General. Research indicates that 1 out of 2 people will experience measurable levels of loneliness this year. Colton’s involvement means that millions more people will learn about the WhiteFlag resource and find support to alleviate their mental health symptoms and loneliness.

“What’s so exciting about WhiteFlag is it’s already working. We have tens of thousands of people on the app, asking for support or supporting others. We need to continue to grow our network of peer support.”

Looking Ahead

Colton Underwood’s appointment as Chief Community Officer marks a significant milestone for WhiteFlag. His leadership and vision will be pivotal in fostering a supportive, engaged, and resilient community dedicated to mental health advocacy and support.

We invite you to join us in welcoming Colton to the WhiteFlag family. Together, we can continue to build a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.
