This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how WhiteFlag App, Inc. (“us,” “our,” or “we”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information that we collect through www.whiteflagapp.com and our mobile application (the “Services”).

A Note To Our Users

WhiteFlag’s primary purpose is to provide a safe and secure space for people to connect and communicate. WhiteFlag does not sell, distribute, or disclose user data to any 3rd party which would use data in a way that compromises the safety, digital security or privacy of our users. While there are 3rd parties WhiteFlag has relationships with that will occasionally utilize the data we store, these use cases are for improvement of the app, a better understanding of its functionality and your interaction with it, and how to better serve you, our community. The disclaimers provided below are to better help our users understand the nature and method of how WhiteFlag collects, uses, and discloses information. WhiteFlag’s data collection-and use of that information with 3rd parties- is used to:

  • Track analytical data.

  • Provide account security and safety.

  • To allow users to match effectively and see each other’s voluntarily provided information.

  • Better provide any offered service WhiteFlag promotes within the app.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU

When you use or access the Services, we may collect information, such as the following:

 

  • Contact information, such as your name, username, email address, phone number, city, and state. Please note: not all of this information is required to be a qualified and registered user of the app.

  • Authentication information, such as your password.

  • Demographic information, such as your date of birth, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, and veteran status.

  • Please note: Age as a required field is to ensure all users of our Services are of at least 18 years of age. All other fields are not required.

  • Information you choose to provide regarding your mental health, such as the conditions you may be suffering from, how you are coping with them, and your listed life experiences.

  • Demographic information, information regarding your mental health and methods of coping are used to provide the unique user matching experience within the WhiteFlag app. This information helps the services showcase you to other users in your time of need based on what information you select/provide. It also gives WhiteFlag the ability to provide effective and relevant features and services to the appropriate users within the app, and avoid irrelevant, redundant, or unuseful features/services based on that information. Nearly all of this information is optional to provide, and may be omitted if desired. However, without it, WhiteFlag cannot guarantee its ability to provide the one-of-a-kind experience our users appreciate.

  • Any other information you submit when you contact us through or use the Services, including any information you provide in a submission through our “Contact Us” form.

  • This information is kept on record for customer service and technical support purposes, via email exchanges made with WhiteFlag.

  • We also may collect certain other information automatically when you visit the Services, such as the following:

  • Browser and Device Information. Certain information may be automatically collected, such as information about user devices, operating systems, and browsers. This information can include a specific identifier for your device. 

  • This allows WhiteFlag to identify specific technical issues, analytics, security of users and remove users who violate our terms and conditions. How quickly we can identify specific technical issues and/or potentially malicious users is largely dependent on knowing what kind of hardware and software those issues originate from.

  • Information Stored in Cookies. The Services may also use available web-based technologies to collect consumer data, such as cookies or web beacons. Cookies are pieces of information stored directly on users’ computers or devices. Cookies allow us to collect information such as browser type, time spent on the online services, pages visited, referring URL, and other traffic and usage data. We may also use cookies for purposes such as determining what features interest our users, revising our site features or operations, and as further described below. For more information, see the “Your Choices” section below.

  • Pixel Tags and Log Files. The Services may also use other tracking systems such as log files and pixel tags. For example, pixel tags, sometimes called web beacons, are similar in function to a cookie and can tell us certain information like what content has been viewed. This helps WhiteFlag better determine what features, amenities and portions of WhiteFlag’s anatomy are most desirable to our users, and how they can be improved.

  • Information Collected in Connection with Analytics Technology: We may use various technologies to learn more about how visitors use the Services, such as Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyze how visitors use the Services. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the Services includes your IP address. If you so choose, you may be able to opt out by turning off cookies in the preferences settings in your browser. In addition, we code our services to collect information about your interaction with our features and other users for analytics purposes.   • policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. We may also use other analytics services and technologies to monitor your activities on our Services, for better understanding of how our Services are used, and ways to improve them.

  • We may use information we collect automatically to help recognize your browser or device, maintain your preferences, provide certain features, and collect information about interactions with our content and our communications. We may also use cookies and other technologies (i) to provide, develop, maintain, personalize, protect, and improve the Services and operate our business, (ii) to perform analytics, including to analyze and report on usage and performance of the Services and marketing materials, (iii) to protect against, identify, and prevent fraud and other unlawful activity, (iv) to create aggregate data about groups or categories of our users, (v) to synchronize users across devices and affiliates, and (vi) for us and our affiliates to provide information and/or materials to our users about resources, services, or products designed to benefit the WhiteFlag community.

We know user privacy and security is a top priority, for both WhiteFlag and our community. Below is an explanation of what the information we collect is used for. We have attempted to provide as much transparency as possible in the use of data and information. Information that we collect is used for purposes that include the following:

 

  • Providing the Services to you and other users, including permitting you to upload and share content, including personal information, through the Services, identifying features that may interest you, and delivering notifications related to the Services.

  • Operating, evaluating, debugging, identifying and repairing errors, effectuating similar functional enhancements, and improving our Services or business operations.

  • Understanding how you and our other users use our Services and to determine what features and services may interest you and our other users.

  • To communicate with you and others. This includes responding to your requests, sending community-wide announcements to all users, and providing promotional information.

  • Storing information about your preferences, recognizing you when you use the Services, and customizing your experience.

  • To enforce our policies, terms of use, contracts, or other legal rights.

  • To investigate or prevent unlawful activities or misuse of the Services.

  • To protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and participating in any prosecution or enforcement of laws or agreements meant to prevent or punish such activity.

  • To operate, evaluate, debug, identify and repair errors, effectuate similar functional enhancements, and improve our Services or business operations.

YOUR CHOICES

 

You may also be able to use certain features of the Services to adjust your or your activities visibility within the Services. You may also choose not to provide the personal information we request through the Services. However, not providing information we request may restrict your ability to use certain features of the Services. For example, you may be able to restrict the collection of personal information or functionality through your device's operating system or by disabling cookies, but doing so may prevent you from using the functionality of the Services.

THIRD-PARTY LINKS

 

WhiteFlag aims to provide a multitude of additional resources and services that may also benefit our users outside of the services we provide. The Services may include links to websites, applications, information, and services provided by third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the applicable privacy policies of such third parties if you elect to follow the links provided.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

 

We do not direct the Services to individuals under the age of 18. We do not intentionally collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18 through the Services. If you believe we have received personal information about an individual under the age of 18, please contact us as described in the “Contacting Us” section of this Policy.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

 

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our privacy practices at any time and without prior notice to you. When we do so, we will update the Effective Date of the Policy, above. We encourage you to periodically review this Policy for the latest information on our privacy practices.
